Our Story
How a coffee can started a key-free revolution in the access control world…
2011: An idea is born
In mid-2011, we find our two founders having what soon would turn out to be a game-changing conversation about the Cloud, entrepreneurship, personal drive, locks and lots of other things while enjoying a great cup of coffee. After three hours, they make a decision: let’s rock the world of access control!
Two months later, ‘Clay Solutions’ was born. This company would be built from the ground up, so it needed a solid foundation. With the philosophy, great people make great products; the founders agreed to name their employees ‘Bricks’. Bricks are strong and sustainable all by themselves, but together they make even a greater foundation.
2012: Clay comes to life
At the beginning of 2012, the founders who were only software-focused realised they needed a partner who could provide the physical locks.
Here, Salto Systems came into the picture. An access control company with their headquarter based in Spain that manufactured their hardware.
With a prototype in a coffee can, one of the founders pitched the idea at Salto Systems HQ. Salto Systems is, just as Clay, ignited by the passion of enthusiastic and highly experienced professionals that were eager to change the world of access control forever. So, of course, it turned out to be a great match.
2017: Clay becomes a SALTO Group Company
2022: Clay continues to grow
In 2017 Salto Systems fully acquired Clay Solutions and became the sole owner of the company.
Today, Clay Solutions has grown its foundation to be a team of 50 Bricks and counting. Together with our Salto Systems family, we are making waves in access control worldwide, and we are just on our way. To make even more waves, we need reinforcement.
