“Clay has opened many doors for us, despite the distance. That can’t be a coincidence.”
Marc Handels - Chief Marketing & Sales Officer
Cloud-based access control in use in over 90 countries
From its inception in 2001, SALTO Systems; a leading manufacturer of electronic access control solutions, was created with one objective: to devise a world-class access control system that was simple to use and extremely efficient, giving users the ability to control all their access needs and secure all their doors without complex and expensive wiring.
SALTO’s mission to replace mechanical keys remains as relevant as ever, as facility managers and security professionals aim to substitute mechanical locks with more secure electronic products. Since our founding, SALTO’s success has been proven with installations in over 90 countries, and with over 15 million people using SALTO’s products every day to provide total control over who is permitted to access what, where and when at all times.
The knowledge acquired through SALTO’s direct presence in the market has guided us to redesign and readapt our cloud-based Clay by SALTO product to an improved and refined solution called SALTO Keys as a Service. By incorporating SALTO’s proven reliability and stability in cloud-based access control, SALTO KS provides offers a valued solution for businesses by incorporating significantly better functionality and performance than is possible with traditional and commonly known locking solutions.
SALTO KS is an access control management system that requires no software installation or the added expense of a fully-wired electronic product. And now, the system also integrates quickly and easily with complementary security products, such as Panasonic Cameramanager, a leading cloud-based video surveillance solution to provide a more complete security solution without sacrificing simple and flexible access control system management.
It is clear from the market that the demand for cloud-based security products continues to grow in conjunction with smartphone usage. To better meet this demand, SALTO KS has lowered its entry price for a two-door system, which is particularly attractive and appropriate for small and medium sized enterprises. SALTO’s proven reliability along with the flexibility, scalability and great design of SALTO KS brings real value, in particular to smaller scale installations and enterprises.
“We needed a strong partner with access control expertise, so we could focus on what we do best. And with Clay at the core of our platform, we’re able to rapidly respond to and exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Global scale, same performance
International Workspace Group (IWG) is the holding group for different workspace brands including Regus and SPACES, among others. As the world’s largest provider of flexible workspace solutions, IWG has customers including some of the most successful entrepreneurs, individuals and multi-billion-dollar corporations. Their network includes almost 3300 locations, spanning over 1000 cities across 114 countries.
Before partnering with Clay & SALTO, IWG centers used a mix of mechanical locks and disparate card systems for office and building access control respectively. Key and lock management was completely manual. IWG wanted to deploy an access control system globally for remote center management; to achieve a smooth customer experience as well as to create networking opportunities in the workplace for its customers.
To address this need, IWG turned to Clay’s API and SALTO’s electronic locks to gain ability to remotely control building access. The custom web and mobile solution for IWG Access Control launched in 2017. IWG improved its customer experience significantly; eliminated management of physical keys, but more importantly enabled valuable networking opportunities for its customers around the world.
Access Control is designed to manage and monitor access in IWG centers. With the Access Control application center staff can see and control access in their centers; see who opened which doors, and when, instantly block tags to revoke access, grant an existing user custom access to a space and let company owners manage access for their employees. Automation is a big advantage of this tool. Automatically granting access based on a customer booking or user role is a feature that saves a lot of time. The new Mobile keys feature is on the way to becoming a customer favorite.
IWG achieved a solution with a seamless customer experience. Besides giving IWG centers more capabilities, control and functionality; it gave its customers the opportunity to connect with each other, build relationships in the workplace and grow their network. These benefits strengthened IWG’s core value of community; enabling its customers to build a diverse social network, potentially leading to new clients, new investors or resources to help grow their business.
